You know you have become essential the day a competitor tries to pass itself off as you.
A few weeks ago, a foreign player bid on the keyword “France-IX” in Google Ads.
So far, a common practice, aggressive but legal.
What is far less legal is that the landing page bore the France-IX name… but did not lead to the France-IX website. A misleading page, then, designed to capture customers who thought they were arriving on our site.
We sent them a letter, reviewed by a lawyer, and it stopped.
A foreign competitor riding on your name is a sign of recognition beyond our borders.
And for good reason: France-IX is the leading French IXP, with more than 600 connected networks.
A peering community that exists nowhere else in France, and that we have built over the years.
A value that some prefer to capture rather than build.
