Access France-IX customers in other regions using your existing port and an additional VLAN, while benefiting from the same security and performance as your local peering. This flexible solution optimizes your connections while reducing infrastructure costs.
This service is added to the local peering service on the same port, subject to sufficient physical capacity of the port.
A single physical connection port is all you need to connect with all clients across different regions, without incurring multiple infrastructure costs. Benefit from a high-performance, resilient infrastructure while reducing connection times.
Extend your network to new regions without deploying additional hardware by simply using an extra VLAN, enabling fast and cost-effective expansion of your network presence.
Reduce expenses by using a single port to access multiple regions, avoiding the high costs associated with installing new equipment in each location.
Benefit from a redundant and secure connection through a wave infrastructure, ensuring high performance and enhanced reliability for your inter-regional exchanges.
Using this service provides access to high-quality, responsive technical support, available 24/7.
All regions (Lille, Lyon/Grenoble, Marseille, Paris, Toulouse) are interconnected via redundant waves. This means that from any one region, you can access the other France-IX regions using the Remote Peering service. A VLAN is configured on your local port to access the desired remote region.
For each additional remote region, an extra VLAN is configured. For example, if a client is physically connected to France-IX in Lille and wants to reach clients connected in Marseille, an additional VLAN is configured on their port to remotely access the Marseille peering LAN. This allows them to establish peering sessions with other clients locally connected in Marseille.
Local peering connects you to members in the same region (same physical Point of Presence). Remote Peering allows you to access members in other France-IX regions (Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Paris, Toulouse) from your single connection port, via additional VLANs. The two services are complementary.
No. Remote peering requires no additional physical equipment on your end. Setup is done entirely through software configuration (adding VLANs to your existing port). This is one of the service's key advantages: geographic expansion with no hardware cost and no on-site intervention.
To access Remote Peering, you must already have an active connection port at one of the France-IX Points of Presence. If that is not yet the case, start with the Local Peering service. Once connected, Remote Peering activation is done on request to our sales team.
