In 2010, the six biggest players in the French Internet decided to build something together. 15 years later, the entire French Internet is here.
At the time, the idea was simple: create a neutral, independent Internet exchange point, rooted in France.
A place where networks could interconnect directly, without going through foreign nodes, without depending on a dominant player.
Akamai, Bouygues Telecom, Google, Interxion, Jaguar Network and Neo Telecoms laid the first stones. The French Internet community did the rest.
15 years later, the numbers speak for themselves:
When we say that the entire French Internet is here, it’s not a marketing metaphor. It’s the technical reality: telecoms operators, content providers, businesses, institutions… They are all present.
It’s also a range of services built up over the years to meet the needs of every type of player: local and remote peering, Microsoft Azure Peering Service, Google VPP, Multipass, Cloud Access, housing, transit IP.
An offering that has evolved with market needs throughout these 15 years.
A network infrastructure is judged by its longevity, its stability, and the trust it accumulates year after year. France-IX was built by a community, for a community. That is the reason it has such robustness.
