Europe has its own AI players, but we don’t necessarily know them. A quick overview of these sovereign options.
Following my last post on China’s open source AI strategy and the Open Router illustration, it’s a good opportunity to do this mapping work on what actually exists on the European side.
When it comes to LLMs, we’re not far behind:
Now, when you’re looking for an alternative to Open Router with a unified API that aggregates multiple models, things seem to get more complicated.
Fear not, Eden AI exists. Over 500 models, with an EU endpoint, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance, and a 100% European data processing policy.
And for those who want to go even further: EUrouter processes every request in Europe, through European providers only.
But the truth is, most of these names are unknown to us.
Because the European ecosystem is fragmented and under the radar, even if it is gradually consolidating.
So before turning to OpenAI or Anthropic by default, isn’t it worth taking a look at what’s available closer to home?
If there are any European actors who are little-known or unknown, please share their names in the comments to help raise their profile.
