A survey by Wavestone and MEDEF takes stock of the digital resilience of French companies. Only 1 company in 7 has a real strategy on the subject. And that should worry us all.
Here are the figures:
Between awareness and action, there is a chasm.
The result: nearly €265 billion spent every year by French companies on software and cloud services from outside Europe.
The cause is a change of business model: we have moved from an ownership model (the software licence) to a rental model (SaaS).
The risks multiply, from economic risks, with volatile costs and vendor lock-in, to legal and contractual, geopolitical and strategic risks, as well as operational risks to business continuity.
We are entitled to ask why French companies are not taking action.
The survey identifies three main obstacles.
And to overcome them, you have to start with a diagnosis. That is where the IRN comes in.
The Digital Resilience Index (Indice de Résilience Numérique) structures this analysis around 8 pillars: strategic and geopolitical, economic and legal, operational, security and continuity, environmental, technological, data and AI, supply chain.
At France-IX, this is a subject very close to our hearts, and one we have been working on for several months. I will tell you more about it soon.
What strikes me in this survey is that awareness is growing, but there is still a lot of work to do. And where do you stand on digital resilience?
