Dear peers,
We are happy to share with you some technical news for the 3rd quarter of 2026!
To better serve the growing demand on the Equinix Paris campus, France-IX is launching a new PoP at Equinix PA3. This PoP follows the design successfully adopted at PA6, incorporating two Nokia SR-1X-48 platforms supporting 800G interfaces, with backbone connectivity ensured by redundant nx400G links. The design relies on two dark fibers following diverse paths and provided by two different operators, landing on our core network nodes at Telehouse 2 and Digital Realty PAR5.
This new location will allow France-IX to better address customer needs across the Equinix PA2/PA3/PA9x/PA10 campus, in particular for 400G connections, which are more sensitive to distance than 10G/100G ones. In the two months following the launch, the approximately forty ports currently connected to our PA6 PoP through extended cross-connects from PA2/PA3/PA9/PA10 will be migrated directly onto the new PA3 PoP, shortening their connection paths and simplifying provisioning on the campus. This migration will be fully managed by France-IX, in close coordination with the Equinix migration team and with appropriate communications to the customers involved.
Peering Essentiel has been successfully launched, and orders can now be placed easily and directly through our Portal: portal.franceix.net.
In partnership with Google, the Google Global Caches (GGC) hosted in Lyon have been fully renewed, increasing capacity from 30G to 200G. The upgrade included a complete replacement of the server cache infrastructure, now connected to our ASN service's infrastructure AS39801. This upgrade immediately benefits the approximately one hundred members connected to the AURA peering LAN.
