News

Peering Essentiel: The new peering LAN in Paris launched on June 15th, 2026!!

France-IX continuously listens to its customers, and one recurring requirement has been the ability to build redundancy across distinct peering LANs while benefiting from a more cost-effective approach.

In response to this feedback, France-IX has launched Peering Essentiel on June 15th, 2026. This new peering LAN is designed to provide an independent peering environment for customers requiring additional resilience.

To ensure operational independence, Peering Essentiel is built on a dedicated hardware infrastructure featuring a different silicon platform and operating system from the existing France-IX platform.

The service is currently available in Paris at the Telehouse 2 PoP, with support for 10G, 100G and 400G interfaces.

Ordering capabilities have been added to the France-IX Portal, allowing customers to provision this service in just a few clicks. You can simply order the service here.

Since the launch, the service has been deployed successfully, with the first eight customers having ordered the service. The launch promotion remains available for the first 50 connected customers:

• Service is provided free of charge until September 30th, 2026, or until 100Gbps of traffic has been reached;
• We thank Telehouse for generously waiving the recurring cross-connect charges until December 31, 2026.

Outscale Directlink

Our Cloud on Ramps offering, Cloud Access, continues to expand, with a strong focus on establishing direct partnerships with sovereign Cloud providers. Following the launch of Scaleway InterLink, we are now adding a dedicated offer for Outscale DirectLink. These two partnerships provide customers with seamless access to sovereign Cloud infrastructures.

Customers can provision 802.1Q VLANs to these Cloud platforms directly from their existing or new peering ports, making connectivity simple and efficient.

ANR DECODES: Measuring the Energy Footprint of DNS

In partnership with AFNIC, France-IX contributes to the ANR (French National Research Agency)-funded DECODES project by providing operational expertise and infrastructure insights to support the measurement and optimisation of the energy footprint of DNS services. As DNS is a well-understood and widely deployed Internet service, the methodologies developed within the project are expected to be applicable to other, more energy-intensive digital infrastructures.

Outages

• City Paris - 29 of May 2026 : A satellite connecting 10G customers (8) on the TH3 PoP experienced instability, causing service disruptions for those customers for approximately two hours. Discussions with the equipment vendor are currently underway to determine the root cause of this non expected instability.

Upcoming projects and operations

• Network visibility by Kentik : Available soon for ordering via our Portal. For more information: Network Visibility
• New PoP at Equinix PA3 : A new PoP will be launched on Equinix's Saint-Denis campus by the end of Q3, covering the PA2, PA3, PA9, and PA10 PoPs. The new infrastructure will support both 400G and 800G interfaces and will enable France-IX to better serve customers directly connected on this campus.
