FRANCE-IX’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: WE HOPE TO SEE MANY OF YOU THERE!

As you may already know, our General Meeting will be held on next Thursday 20 September, at the Paris Trocadero Business Center (Paris, 16th district). As a member of our community, France-IX needs your voice to close the financial accounts and choose the next board committee members. A quorum of 25% of participants is required to validate the vote: every contribution matters, either physically or remotely!

The event will also be the opportunity to look back over the achievements that marked the past year, review together some exciting projects coming up and last but not least, to see or meet the members of France-IX’s team, which has greatly expanded since our last GM.

We look forward to sharing this day with you all, and furthermore in a brand new, vast and  modern venue, particularly suitable for presentations, networking and exchanges between our members and partners. The programme addresses valuable presentations on interesting and varied topics from Kentik, LINX, Hurricane Electric, Cloudflare, AIforNet, the French regulator ARCEP, Blue Infra, AOTA, AFNIC and Acorus Networks.

Warm thanks to our sponsors, whose support will contribute to make this General Meeting a memorable event: Kentik (Platinum sponsor), Telehouse (Silver sponsor), Interxion (Lunch sponsor), Acorus Networks (Beer Event sponsor) and Flexoptix (Coffee Break sponsor).

FRANCE-IX AND ACORUS NETWORKS DEVELOP STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP ON ADVANCED CYBERSECURITY SOLUTIONS

France-IX established a strategic partnership with the cybersecurity specialist, Acorus Networks, that sees the latter join the France-IX Marketplace as a seller. Members of the France-IX peering community will gain direct access to a range of non-intrusive high-capacity anti-DDoS services for network and application-layer protection.

Acorus Networks will offer three complementary services directly from its France-IX Marketplace 100Gbps port to any peering member’s France-IX port via rapid VLAN provisioning in one or two business days, on average.

GOOD HABITS IN YOUR PEERING LIFE

When you start peering at France-IX, you are given an IPv4 and an IPv6 address by default. We also highly encourage you to create your peeringDB profile.

PeeringDB is a wonderful tool for our international peering community and your entry in this database promotes more peering and for networks like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, etc. that use automation, it is a key requirement.

So in your peeringDB profiles, we noticed that while the IPv4 address is often filled out, many IPv6 addresses are still missing. This can have multiple reasons but if you run an IPv6-enabled network, please take the time to add your IPv6 address into your peeringDB entry.

Also, as you know, France-IX launched the IRR filtering on route servers last February. The "IRR record" fields are commonly used to retrieve route objects in different Internet databases. This is a best practice that France-IX has adopted like many others. Please take the time to update this field with your AS-SET or AUT-NUM object.

For any question on these fields or other good practices, please reach out to the France-IX technical team.
