REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR FRANCE-IX’S GENERAL MEETING

As of today, it is possible to register for our annual general meeting, which will be held on Thursday 20 September 2018 in Paris, Trocadero. The meeting will take place in a new site this year with a plenary room, a technical management room, a networking and sponsors space, indoor as well as outdoor, everything located in the heart of Paris.

The event will gather both France-IX members and partners around various contributions and networking opportunities. It indeed provides a chance to benefit from a valuable insight on the past year, with the vote for the annual accounts and the next board members and on future perspectives for France-IX, as well as in-depth presentations on the latest developments, evolutions and trends of our community.

LIGHT ON AXIANS CLOUD SERVICES, NEW USER OF FRANCE-IX'S MARKETPLACE

Two years after its launch, France-IX’s marketplace is being continuously enhanced both in terms of new partners and proposed services. Today, eight services are available, including IP transit, cloud direct access, DDoS protection or paid and remote peering, all made available through 11 sellers, among which Orange International Carriers (AS5511). The latter was of high interest for Axians Cloud Services, a managed service provider specialised in the monitoring, maintenance in operational condition and outsourcing, remotely and up to 24/7, of critical IT architectures and in IT recovery plans.

“Our objective was to create network redundancy of our existing Orange connectivity using a totally different path. Orange proposed us to install a private VLAN at France-IX, which enables us to reduce interconnection costs while creating a fully redundant connection” explains Aurélien Guillaume, System & Network Administrator at Axians Cloud Services.

The France-IX marketplace is the technical intermediary between the France-IX members and the official marketplace partners, providing complementary services to peering. All marketplace services are available directly from the official sellers and are delivered directly at the exchange points in Paris or Marseille to guarantee technical optimization and perfect agility.

FRANCE-IX EXTENDS PARTNERSHIP WITH PCH, ENABLING DIRECT ACCESS TO QUAD9 DNS RESOLVER

France-IX has extended its relationship with global non-profit organisation PCH (Packet Clearing House), through two new connections at France-IX Marseille and an upgrade at France-IX Paris. As the transit provider to the Quad9 DNS resolver project, PCH’s increased capacity at France-IX will deliver low-latency DNS resolution with privacy and security protection for all France-IX peering members.

This is a real win-win as PCH, which is now able to extend and improve delivery of its cutting edge services to the French Internet community and beyond, expecting Paris to be the most active location in France and the fifth most active in Europe thanks to this new development.

The two new connections in Marseille will be effective in the second half of 2018, while the Paris capacity upgrades are already available.

LAST CALL TO GIVE YOUR OPINION

Last month, we launched our satisfaction survey aiming to assess the services our active members benefit from at France-IX. To help us best serve our community, we need to hear from a wide variety and a certain number of members.

If not already done, please take a few minutes to give us your feedback and ideas.  Answers are anonymous unless you wish to participate in our lucky draw (a Fitbit wristband or YI HD home camera to win).
