FRANCE-IX ENGAGES THE COMMUNITY IN VIDEO FOR RIPE 76 !

As a co-host and the federating point of the Internet in France, France-IX has set itself the goal of contributing to the visibility of the 76th edition of the RIPE meetings, organised in Marseille from the 14th to the 18th of May. Because it is held for the very first time since 26 years in France, and considering the previous meetings failed to gather more than two dozens of French attendees out of 500 to 700 participants on average, this is the ideal opportunity to join forces and mobilise the French Internet community !

We asked several of you to share with us their event participation through a simple tagline “J’y vais, et toi?” (I’m going, and you?). On a bicycle, on a plane, on skis or on a surfboard, discover in video the creativity of our community and help us spread the word: like, comment, share the video around you to break records and represent France in numbers at RIPE 76 !

A big thanks to our first contributors, what if you were the next ambassador?

BACK TO THE CREATION OF SENIX, THE FIRST SENEGALESE EXCHANGE POINT

Launched last summer, SENIX, first Internet exchange point in Senegal, is the result of a collaboration between institutions, operators, content and service providers gathered around a common objective: to provide the country with a world-class exchange point and thus enable access-for-all to a high-performance, reliable and independent Internet. Founded with the support of France-IX, SENIX is now positioned as one of the pillars of Senegal’s digital independence and of its economic development throughout West Africa.

How was the SENIX created and what challenges did the involved actors have to face? How does its implementation contribute to creating a virtuous circle for the entire digital chain? Why was the support from France-IX key to the success of the project?

We collected the answers to these questions directly on site from the different players involved and we exclusively offer you the summary of our exchanges through these short videos. Welcome to SENIX and congratulations on the journey already made!

NETALIS BECOMES RESELLER FOR FRANCE-IX PARIS

France-IX extends its reach in Eastern French regions - Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Alsace and Rhônes-Alpes – thanks to the support of Netalis, who is now offering France-IX Paris services from its PoPs in Besançon, Vesoul, Montbéliard, Dijon, Strasbourg and Lyon.

With a strong presence in its home region and constantly expanding into new territories, Netalis is a regional operator and a hosting service provider based in Besançon, offering wholesale solutions (IP transit, remote peering, L2 or WDM transport, dark or activated fiber) in addition to its range of solutions available through direct sales to businesses (very small and mid-sized businesses) and to government institutions. The company is also able to support its clients’ projects such as securing resources from the RIPE, selecting and outsourcing network equipment or providing guidance regarding co-investments in the deployment of company-owned infrastructures (dark fiber).

« Our core business is above all to bring connectivity in territories and offer turnkey solutions to final customers, but also to third-party operators, local integrators and hosting service providers who manage their ASN and IP networks. We are happy to contribute to the growth of France-IX’s interconnection capabilities in our points of presence, which we are continuing to expand over various regions in France and Switzerland.” highlights Nicolas Guillaume, CEO of Netalis.

PEERINGDB, A KEY RESOURCE FOR THE PEERING COMMUNITY

The crucial importance of PeeringDB, the non-profit database with international reach, is no longer in question. We are proud to bring our support for the 3rd consecutive year as a Gold Sponsor and thus help to ensure the maintenance, quality and expansion of the tool.

This free resource available online lists the locations and contacts of IP networks by AS number, IXPs such France-IX as well as datacenters worldwide. It has become essential for peering coordinators, who use it regularly and even automatically. Did you know that your peering requests to  Amazon, Google or Facebook would not be considered, if you are not registered in the database? Some networks require to be listed on PeeringDB before establishing any peering session.

Have you created or updated lately your profile on PeeringDB?
